Are you at risk for cyber threat?
It’s easy to quickly answer no, especially when you wonder why a threat actor would be interested in your business. However, we often forget just how much data is actually stored and utilized. Regardless of how large a company is or how much sensitive information they deal with, every business is vulnerable to cyber criminals.
Think about it this way: Threat actors are not only looking for an end result (such as financial gain), but they are also looking for ease of access and relatively quick turnarounds. This means that they could potentially target a smaller business simply due to the ease of access, or a larger organization for the potential ransom.?
What’s happening at Socium? Keep reading for company news!
Jeff Baker, CTO of Socium Solutions, recently participated in a webinar alongside Michael Zweiback of ZFZ Law and Katherine Doble of Ingage. The webinar focused on cybersecurity and the increased risk that law firms face from cyber threats, and included an informative discussion surrounding company data and why cyber criminals may target organizations. You can watch the full webinar here.
We are excited to announce that Socium's CEO, Tam Nguyen has been accepted into this year’s NMSDC Kellogg Advanced Management Executive Program (AMEP).?
In early 2018, Socium began as a project during Tam Nguyen’s participation in the Goldman Sachs executive program known as GS 10K Small Business. The objective was to develop a growth strategy, rather than just a business plan. To meet the specific requirements of a client later that year, NB Business Solutions evolved into Socium Solutions. Now, five years later, Socium is successfully progressing along its growth trajectory.
As Socium enters its sixth year, Tam is eager to rejuvenate and gain a fresh entrepreneurial perspective through participation in the Kellogg AMEP.
Thank you to NMSDC for sponsoring this opportunity in support of minority-owned businesses.

At this point, ransomware is a common word in and out of the cybersecurity sphere–the majority of individuals and businesses have heard of the term through breaking news and even potential threats, but many aren’t aware of the full danger that ransomware brings to businesses of all sizes. One of the biggest risks that businesses face when it comes to ransomware is simply being unprepared, or even underprepared. Why? Because this leaves their business open to threats with little to no plan of action – it can be argued that being underprepared even provides a false sense of confidence that inhibits organizations from efficient responses.

Phishing inflicts not only financial losses—stolen funds, ransom demands, and data breach cleanup costs—but also enduring damage. A successful attack can obliterate a company’s reputation, eroding customer trust built over years. Consider the potential headlines: “Major Data Breach at [Company Name] Exposes Customer Information.” The ensuing public outcry, plummeting stock prices, and lost business can be crippling.

In the metaverse, phishing attacks present a new frontier for cyber deception. The immersive environment makes users more susceptible to sophisticated scams, exploiting the sensory-rich experience to trick them into divulging sensitive information. Additionally, the decentralized nature of the metaverse can make it harder to combat phishing, as there are fewer centralized points of control for monitoring and prevention. Cybercriminals leverage this environment to create convincing scenarios, posing unique challenges compared to traditional online platforms.
