Are you on the right side of history?
This morning: Nick Stoop and Clare Farrell - London - 26th May 2022

Are you on the right side of history?

How do you know?

From who's perspective?

Is it a hunch or can it be evidence based in the moment?

How would you (or did you) react during Apartheid, Segregation, and Fascism?

And how are you reacting to the Climate Crisis we are in?

I've spent the past few years studying the evidence.

Reading factuals and counterfactuals.

Engaged with environmental activists outside the public eye.

I've quietly introduced those activists and participated in conversations with senior leaders in the finance world.

We've encouraged people in positions of power to engage with the planet on an emotional level.

Have those efforts borne any fruit?

Yes, and no.

Our small group of catalysers have certainly helped to change the conversation in boardrooms and the halls of power.

But those efforts on their own are certainly not enough.

Like it or not, it is the actions by the likes of the lady photographed next to me this morning that are really driving change.

Clare Farrell is much braver than me.

I believe history will look down extremely kindly on the likes of Clare.

And all of you out there who have resorted to disruptive but peaceful climate activism.

While I don't agree with all of your actions and language...

...I am hugely thankful to you for truly bringing the climate debate into public conversation.

Your ripples will be felt and documented for years to come.

And you have helped provide the likes of our little group with keys to doors that would have otherwise remained firmly shut.

Clare, if you happen to stumble across this post, it was lovely to have bumped into you this morning.

Keep knocking those doors down.
