Will you respond to the White Paper on adequate housing?
We all agree that everyone deserves a good home, right? Now is the time to make sure your voice is heard by responding to the recently-launched White Paper. The past few weeks have been a busy time for the Back the Bill campaign, following the publication of the?Welsh Government’s White Paper into adequate housing.?Our initial response highlighted?why we felt a bit underwhelmed, with a lack of focus on legislation and human rights particularly disappointing.
The White Paper is missing some key questions... ... which is why the Back the Bill campaign has?developed alternative questions that need exploring, if we are to properly consider the (positive) impacts of a right to adequate housing - and what's needed to make it happen. We are encouraging organisations and individuals to have a peek at our questions and to consider weaving them into their formal responses to the White Paper.?
A majority of housing association?CEOs 'Back the Bill.' Since 2018, campaign partners have been working to secure a rights-based approach to housing in Wales and our feasibility study and draft Bill showed how this could be possible. We are pleased that more than two-thirds of Chief Executives from housing associations across Wales agree with us, alongside leaders from charities including Llamau, Crisis, Care & Repair Cymru and Amnesty International.
