If you really want a new job this year, do this:
START WORKING ON IT TODAY!
50% of people I am talking to are telling me that they are “postponing” their search to the fall. ?
What does this mean for you??
Job searches and hiring does NOT stop in the summertime, contrary to popular belief.
So let’s say you logically know this, but, struggle with how to start a search.
You are not alone, my?friend!
Sometimes just starting in the hardest - and most important thing to do.
- Set your timer for 20 minutes
- Think of 10 companies you would love to work for; write them down.
- Set your timer for 20 minutes
- Go on LinkedIn and see if you have first- or second-degree connections with anyone at the companies
- Using the search bar type in the company name and then select “people”, then “connections” and select “1st” and “2nd degree connections”
- Write them down
- Set your timer for 20 minutes
- Pick 5 people total from your list and write to them on LinkedIn, as follows:
- If you have a first-degree connection: Reach out to the connection.?Tell them hello and ask the them if they would be open to doing an informational interview with you about how they like working at their company
- If you have second-degree connections: Reach out to the connection you have in common.?Say hello. Ask them to introduce you to the person at the company who you’d like to meet.

Do this again next week, and the week after.
Remember, not everyone is active on LinkedIn. ?
So, do this again and again, until you get the informational interviews you want set up and completed.
This should be enough momentum to get things started - keeping you ahead of the game!
Don’t wait for the fall – start now and secure that new position before the end of the year!?
