You really don’t want to deal with this…

There are many mysteries us humans are yet to fully understand. The function of dark matter, the laws of warp speed, and why Peppa Pig exists to name but a few.

And although I can’t offer you any escape from a kid’s cartoon character, I can take one of life’s more pressing complexities off your hands – namely, computer viruses.

Now if you’re a dedicated reader of my newsletter (what d’you mean you’re not?), you’ll know 43% of cyber attacks are targeted at small businesses just like yours.

Most business owners are smart enough to have some sort of protection in place. But if you’re operating without antivirus software, the disruption it could cause will make an episode of Peppa Pig feel like a luxury spa retreat.

“Less about Peppa and more about protection please, Captain”

Okay, let’s set the scene. It’s Friday afternoon and you’re tired after another busy week. You’ve just finished reading the latest Captain’s Chair newsletter and decide to log off for the weekend.

But before you do, a well-branded and well-written email pops up in your inbox. Everything looks legitimate, so you decide to click the lovely, shiny link included in the message.

This, dear reader, is a big mistake. Because as you shut down your computer and set off for the weekend, a nasty piece of software will quietly encrypt your systems, holding your data as hostage for a ransom.

The amount of disruption this can cause your business doesn’t bear thinking about. Not only will you lose access to your systems (costing time and money), but you’ll also be demanded to pay a ransom to retrieve your data.

In short, it’s a galactic nightmare!

“Alright, I’m listening. What’s the solution?”

When we onboard you at Northstar IT, our crew constantly monitor your systems to detect any suspicious activity.

If something smells suspicious, we’ll quarantine your computer so cyber criminals think it’s offline. This gives us the time we need to remove any harmful software, clean your system, and get things back up and running.

If you want to know more about our ransomware protection packages, get in touch today by calling 01903 25 99 23.

Until the next time. ??
