Are you ready to write your book?

Write That Book!

While I was on a long flight recently, I had the opportunity to watch two full movies, (have I ever told you how much I love movies?). After watching “Can You Ever Forgive Me” and “The Wife” back to back, I was feeling a little melancholy. Both movies are about female writers during times where life was even more of a challenge for women.

I stopped and thought to myself, "Oh my goodness, I'm a writer and an author who has turned the goal of publishing a book into a reality and at many points in my life, that was just a pipe dream." It's extremely powerful to write a book where you share your stories and teach others the lessons you've learned along the way. It's also incredibly humbling to know others use their precious time to read what you've written. Sometimes, I move so fast I forget to slow down and celebrate where I am today.

When people tell me they want to write a book and share their story, I always tell them there's no better time than now to start writing. Take a moment to think about all the great books you've read and benefited from. Without them, you may not have learned important lessons that got you where you are today, been guided to the next right step, or been encouraged to make your dreams a reality. The world needs to hear your story, but more importantly, the lessons you've learned along the way that may apply to their unique story.

Inside each of us is a book, or maybe even ten books, waiting to be written. Also inside each of us is a teacher with many lessons to share. As an author, I am proud of the words and work I'm putting into the world; doing my part to make it a better place and inviting others to live by choice each day.

This week, I challenge you to write something each day, whether it's a lesson you've learned, a story near to your heart, a memory you carry close, or any other thoughts you may have. You never know, one day at a time may just turn itself into a book one day!

What does living your exceptional life look like to you?

What will you write about? What lesson will the reader learn?

What would the title of your book be? What does it mean to you?

What genre will your book be? Who is your target audience?
