Job Market so hot right now, it's practically doing the Samba?

Are you up to some statistics? Despite economic circumstances being as wobbly as a newborn foal learning to walk, the job market in the US, UK and Germany is still hotter than a summer heatwave in the Sahara. CNN just wrote “The labor market ballooned in January […] blowing past […] expectations.” That's right, job openings are still soaring high, even if they haven't reached the record levels of last year while unemployment rates remain lower than they were in 2019. Job openings in the US are up a staggering 47%, with the UK and Germany not far behind at 33% and 35%, compared to the pre-pandemic era.

As already mentioned before: the writing's?on the wall. Given the fact that the great people shortage is looming on the horizon, these figures are a sign that the new era in the labor market has already started: we're in a candidate-centric job market already. Nevertheless, when considering future demographic changes, it is highly probable that our current times will be regarded as a window of opportunity for employers. Besides all unpredictable ups and downs... the labor markets will get much tighter in the future. Now is the time to establish a solid foundation for this new era.?

"China. China!"

"This is how I was greeted by a street seller during a recent trip to Addis Ababa. Blonde haired and blue eyed, I’m not your “average-looking” Chinese. However, in the eyes of the merchant, I was “foreign” looking, and “all” foreign workers in Ethiopia are Chinese. Hence, the logical conclusion.?

This was a wake-up call to get out of my Euro-centricity and start seeing the world as it is, and not as I think it is.

Awesome! Just awesome

The labor markets continue to surprise us. In the US alone, there are currently over 11 million job openings, with only 0.5 unemployed persons per opening. What will happen when demographics change and external circumstances become more stable? A lot to discuss or what do you think Helen Kupp, Katja Riefler, Xavier Martin Canals, Paul Byrne, Laura Bornmann https://www.bls.gov/charts/job-openings-and-labor-turnover/unemp-per-job-opening.htm
