Are you ready for success?
We very well know the fear of failure but we never speak about the fear of success. Now ask yourself; Have you authorize yourself to succeed? Everybody would tend to seek for the praise, the exposure, the abundance of money, the fame, the security the encouragements and the recognition. So what hold you? The obligation? The lack of time? The potential jealousy? Other people's judgments? Lack of self confidence? The sacrifices? Procrastination?
It may mean that you need to change your mindset and the way you think, your perception of the reality your environment, sometimes your entourage. Are you ready to assume the consequence of your success?
Now is the second best time
The best time for setting up a bright and successful career was the day you received your last diploma. The second best time is TODAY!
What is your career goal?
In August 2020, I dedicated one free session per day for people in need of career orientation and received calls from Malaysia, New Zealand, France, UK, US, South Africa, India, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Philippines, Pakistan, Turkey, Germany, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh.
Talents from all over the global, everyone with his/her own story and background, a different experience and a different objective. These people are special. They have taken the first step towards success by investing a bit of time this month to improve their CV, to discuss their career goals, open their perspectives and opportunities and make an action plan. And I am confident I will hear soon good news for them all!
The importance of having an eye-catching CV
Your CV lifespan in the hands of the hiring manager is between 2 seconds and 30 seconds. to make an impression. A good quality CV with professional structure and decent content will boost your chances to get shortlisted for an interview. An impressive CV will make your application stand out!
Here are some guidelines:
- The CV should be 1 or 2 pages maximum, be concise and accurate.
- Your picture speaks a thousand words, make sure it reflects you as a professional.
- Key information section. This should include your name, city and country of residence, a contact number, email address and your LinkedIn page link.
- Keys skills profile. I recommend using info-graphics such as bar chart.
- Work experience. No copy paste from job descriptions! The hiring manager wants to know your top key achievements, what have you brought to your company, to your team, you can use bullet points to avoid long sentences.
- Add volunteering jobs and internships, these are valuable working experience. The hiring manager does not care whether you were paid or not. They value your dedication and your results.
- Your areas of interest. You could use pie charts to illustrate your after-work activities and hobbies.
- "References available upon requests" is good to have.
- Give your CV document a good title when you save it such as First Name, Last Name, CV.
