Are you ready to be a P&J mentor?
This is a photo of the Master's in Peace and Justice Studies class of 2003, my pioneering cohort. They are now spread out around the world: Kenya, The Hague, Geneva, Rwanda, Uganda, both coasts and in between in the U.S. They are working in the private sector, governments, NGOs and international organizations. They have founded their own organizations or transformed others, and they are bringing their P&J perspective to whatever they are doing.
Some of them are still in San Diego, and we're hoping they will join our new Kroc School Mentoring Alliance, spending a few hours per semester helping a current MAPJ students develop and pursue their career path.
The Mentoring Alliance is a response to the alumni survey we sent out in the fall (thank you to all the respondents!), as is more robust support from Career Services for students and alumni alike. Alumni and other professionals in the San Diego area, working for organizations like Project Concern International, the International Rescue Committee and Catholic Relief Services, in political offices, advocacy organizations and impact investment funds, corporate responsibility, social enterprise and other P&J-related positions are invited to join the mentorship circle to offer an ear, experience and accountability to students who may be entering the field or making career transitions.
Please contact me if you are interested in becoming a P&J mentor for the 2015-2016 academic year. Help us make this experiment a model for knowledge transfer and career guidance. This is a no cost way to stay engaged with the Kroc School and to get to know the incredible students who are committing themselves to working for transformative positive change. Thank you for your participation!.

9 年I agree with Afarin that mentorship is a critical piece to the P & J program. I'm hoping the Mentorship Circle will allow those of us who are not physically living in the US to participate.

9 年Can't emphasize enough how significant mentorship is in advancing a career and building a network in this field, similar to many others. I am very glad that KSPS is finally launching this initiative.
