Are you ready to let go? It's time to Let Go to Grow.

Are you ready to let go? It's time to Let Go to Grow.

Hi Momentum Makers,

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love taking walks in my neighborhood with my girlfriends. I love hot coffee on the porch (I’m not a pumpkin spice latte girl but I’ll take a pumpkin muffin any day!) in an oversized sweatshirt. I love watching college football and experiencing the excitement of living in a college town (MIZ! Go Tigers!). But I especially love watching the leaves on the trees turn fiery red, burnt orange, and golden yellow.?

Here’s why:?

Trees make a grand display of letting go.?

Every year, they work hard to grow up, branch out, and dig deep. And every year, they shed their leaves to prepare for new growth. They let go of what no longer serves them.

Trees don’t fight change. They let go to grow.?

Let’s examine three tree-mendous takeaways to help you get growing:

1. Let go of old patterns that no longer serve you.

What can you let go of that no longer serves you? It could be something as simple as a dress that doesn’t make you feel good about yourself or as complex as a negative attitude, a relationship that doesn’t support you, or environments that steal your joy.

Let go of the tendency to “should” all over yourself. You and your life are exactly where it needs to be—don’t make it less than it is because it’s not what, where, or how you expected. Let go of how you envisioned it so you can make the most of what you have!

2.?Embrace and accept change as part of growth.?

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: there’s only what’s now and what’s next. That’s because change is the only constant in life. Trees know that each season brings change: leaves shedding, time for resting, and buds growing.?

One of life’s best gifts —growth—is the result of change. When we embrace and accept change, we allow ourselves to own it and drive it, so we’re ready for whatever is next. This mindset shift helps us remain resilient and adaptable as we ride the next wave of inevitable change. What’s one simple way that you can embrace and accept change in your life?

3.?Use the power of rest for renewal.?

Rest is not a reward, rest is necessary to sustain our growth and resilience. Trees rest in the winter so they can produce beautiful, fragrant blooms in the spring.?

You and I need a little downtime, too. There is power in resting and making space for self-reflection. You develop resilience by giving yourself grace and permission to refuel and recharge without judgment.

Remember—grit without grace isn’t sustainable. You need both!

If you need a reminder on repeat, download the Unstoppable Momentum Manifesto to recharge your resilience in 2 minutes each day.?

Focus on what your life is right now. Use the power of the pause to truly appreciate your life in this exact moment.

What's one thing you’re grateful for?

What's one thing you’d like to change?

Turn this moment into a powerful catalyst that propels you forward into the next season!?

Tasneern Harneed once said: “Learn character from trees, values from roots, and change from leaves.”?

May the trees inspire you as you let go and grow.?

Here’s to Letting Go to Grow!

So funny I land on this article today as I'm in the midst of figuring out the next moves in my world and I've been wrestling with a lot of self-limiting habits that I want to let go of... As your article suggests, I'm letting go of "should-ing" all over myself, staying present and focused, and we'll see where that leads me next. Thanks for the reminder :)

I loved how you used the analogy of the tree foliage to explain growth and change within ourselves. It also briefly touches on how emotions change with the seasons. This is a great way to proactively address seasonal depression, but also empower people through the fourth quarter of the calendar year.
