Are you ready for Industry 5.0?

It's all about putting people at the centre of what, why, where, and how we do business; but is the 5th Industrial Revolution really real; and are you starting to plan for it?
Japan has taken the lead as the country pushing its way towards 'Society 5.0' and there are some factors that are analogous to Australia's position in the region.
Key aspects of Industry/Society 5.0 include:
- Ageing population dynamics
- Leaps towards blockchain technologies and FinTech
- Technology 'for good' movements
- 'Big Data' colliding with privacy concerns
- Cyber-security
- Social challenges and unrest
- Personalised medicine
Here are some interesting articles about Japan's 5.0 approach (they take a few minutes each to read).
Think 'cyber' is just a buzz word?
If you have a moment to meditate on this you might be interested in watching this 'Live Cyber Threat' map, because we all really need to get to grips with the fact that we need cyber security and protections across our whole economic ecosystems. If we don't have the entirety of our network protected then it really is the weakest link that could take entire (and yet seemingly unrelated) systems offline. On the date of writing this blog we are up to nearly 17,000,000 attacks just today. There are 86,400 seconds in one day, so that's nearly 200 cyber attacks hitting Australia's networks somewhere every second.
200 per second. It is almost unfathomable. But we must, as a society, get educated around cyber!
A place leading these conversations is The Cyber Institute, run by Dr Lesley Seebeck. There are ways to partner and get your company involved in short, medium, or longer term projects. Check out their website here.
So, if some of this has piqued your interest, you may wish to learn more about how Industry 5.0 will be affecting your business sooner rather than later. I am happy to help both start and accelerate some of these conversations. It appears that the opportunities for Australia are large and varied from smart agriculture, to economic diversification in the regions, to the important roles that SMEs play alongside large, corporate entities.
