Are you pursuing your passion or dreaming about it?
How to find your passion?
Have you ever had a long, internal dialogue with yourself about your true interests in life and things that you are obsessed about? I know some of you know very clearly what truly sparks your creativity, makes you want to work on it non-stop and yet you don’t feel that you were working at all or putting a lot of pressure on yourself. It gives you so much pleasure to not only engage in it but also the notion of doing it and visualizing all the next steps you could take, feels equally as good.
Congratulations! Those of you who already have this feeling are truly blessed, if, of course you’re taking it to the next level and, pursuing it actively and making it part of your life and who you are. What if I don’t fit into this category? What if I’m not sure what I truly love to do, or I don’t know which one is the right choice for me? What if there are too many options, not enough clarity? Don’t panic! You are not alone. You’ve admitted that you have a very common dilemma! One that most people, all around the world have. I truly believe that it is partly, due to this problem that we have too many depressed, unhappy, negative, aggressive and pessimistic individuals among us. Of course, when you don’t love what you are doing, when what you do doesn’t feel valuable or you feel like you are wasting your time and years of your life doing nothing worthy, you become very vulnerable to the personality traits mentioned above and often so, begin to attract the environment and people in your life that will further feed and enhance your presumed sense of life. That is not the person you want to or need to become. As a matter of fact, you should do your best not to give in and settle for anything if you feel that the fire inside of you is still burning and is telling you to GO FOR IT!
How to start?
Firstly, if you are currently in a situation where you find it difficult to choose or to be sure, what is it that you are obsessed and passionate about, you need to take some time to yourself alone, go deep inside your mind and acknowledge what you enjoyed doing during your teenage and childhood years. What were you good at? What gave you those lovely feelings that you can still feel today if you reminisce those days? See, all too often we don’t even realize what we are truly good at and what we want to pursue in our lives because we don’t spend enough time or focus on it as required. We blame everything around us, our jobs, bosses, families and friends. Of course, we spare ourselves from it. This is wrong! Why to limit yourself and see everything too far-fetched to yourself? Have you ever really given yourself the time to discover your true calling and inner voice? Do you engage in inner dialogue, ever? If you don’t, you really haven’t started anything yet, not to mention that you haven’t given yourself a fair shot. Well why not? I know, life did its tricks on you and you probably think its too late now. Some of you might have families of your own to support, bills to pay and a full-time day job to focus on. I really know where you are coming from. It is hard but! It is never too late to start.
You can start finding ways on how to align your passion with your life. How much time can you spend daily on pursuing it, getting better at it, initiate a networking process, looking for job opportunities and business avenues. The idea is to give your life a powerful meaning, to live more happily each day and love your life. If it has always been a natural human desire, why not pursuing it and make it your reality? Are you too afraid of getting there, or having to crumble till you finally get there? What could be worse than letting each day pass monotonically, becoming more miserable with age and only dreaming and telling your kids that they can do whatever they want if they believe in it and work on it, while you are not giving the best example yourself. Stop romanticizing your golden days when things used to flow in a certain way and get yourself back to your senses and start figuring out, how could you make your whole life a beautiful process of joy, learning, living the way you want, with the people you love and doing more of what you like.
We tend to focus too much on things we don’t have or used to have that we forget totally everything we still have and the possibilities of having whatever we desire. We all have lots of great qualities we can put in to practice, learn more about them, join them with people doing the same things and let them become our focus. I always loved writing. I didn’t start doing it until I couldn’t keep everything inside my head anymore. I had to share it. I procrastinated, started and procrastinated again. It was a long process. Then I began to write and do all the other things I love that I hadn’t even discovered until prior to writing. I attracted the energy of doing more of the things that I am good at and like to do through doing one of the things I was reluctant to start. Who knows how many doors will you open once you take the first step and start doing something you have always been keen to start. Allow it to yourself, take your first initiative and keep on doing it. With time and consistency, you will soon unleash your true creative side and get momentum, and everything starts to make sense and feel righter. That is the true power of pursuing your passion and listening to your inner voice.
