Are You Proud of What You're Making?

Are You Proud of What You're Making?

"Gram fell. They're taking her to the hospital now."

That was the call I received last Monday. My 87-year-old grandmother lost her balance and landed hard.

She's suffered from medically induced osteoporosis for 40+ years. Any fall was magnified with brittle bones.

It also revealed that she had several minor heart attacks going back seven years. A quick scan revealed multiple blockages, rising troponin levels, and falling O2 levels.

I visited her in the hospital one last time on Wednesday night. We cried and reminisced, made a few jokes, and I sang one of her favorite songs.

She passed away the next day at sunset. Purple and orange skies with whisps of billowy heaven laced the edges of the Rockies.

And I'll never forget her cupping my hand, staring into my soul with her Irish eyes, and whispering, "I'm so proud of what you're making."

Not who I've become. Not who I've been. She spoke love into those areas as well.

What struck me the most were the words: "I'm so proud of what you're making."

When I first launched Keynote Content, there were plenty of voices who doubted my ability.

I received three separate voicemails or emails from people who were then close to me.

They all worked to dissuade me from launching what is now changing lives.

Gram was one of my rocks in that storm. I knew she didn't quite understand what I do, but she knew I was chasing my calling.

And that belief meant the world to me.

It also spurred me on to create a legacy I love sharing with the world.

What are you proud of that you're creating?

What are you putting out into the world that's carving the legacy you crave?

What whispers of possibility and audacious inspiration are you releasing into the wild to thrive, challenge, and take deep roots?

How are you shushing the cold and timid commenters online or in your everyday circles who doubt your message?

This isn't pride in a beat-my-chest-adore-me-with-five-star-reviews type of way.

This is a scuttling of your fears. This is a "Just watch me try!" defiance of the status quo because you know you were born for more than a simple, ordinary life.

Who else is proud of what you're making?

Who's been that rock in the storms of uncertainty as you chase your calling?

Thank them now while you still have a chance.

That moment of gratitude was one of the last memories I'll ever have with Gram.

And I'm eternally grateful.
