Are you protected from your own end-users?
Joshua Wertheim
You are almost certainly at risk of internal users removing confidential information from your systems without your knowledge—it may have already happened. My mission is to help you stop it.
Those of you who follow me know that my posts typically tell a story, weaving a situation, internal information theft, with how our solution to stopping the theft can prevent an end-user from stealing your information without detection, and as a result, make you a hero.
There is the flip side. You have put off solving the problem, perhaps because you don't think it's happened (how can you be sure?) and don't believe it will happen, perhaps because you trust your employees. So it is not a priority. Until it happens. Then it becomes your top priority, but the damage has been done, and someone will have to take the fall for allowing it to happen.
You may think you have it covered. If you think that, I suggest a test. Log in as a random user with access to lots of confidential information in your Content Server or eDocs repository, and try to download all of it. See if your system notifies anyone or if it stops you. Of course let the user know ahead of time, as well as anyone who might think this is real.
This test will show two things: first, whether your system can stop an internal user with access to confidential information from taking it; and second, if you can do it as another user, so can a phisher who stole that user's credentials.

If you have file encryption and think that's enough, this test will show you that it's not. Items downloaded, exported, emailed, checked out, being edited, etc. are unencrypted.
If your system fails this test, you should move the solution higher up on your priorities list before it's too late. For OpenText Content Server and eDocs, there is only ONE solution that can stop an end-user with valid credentials who has access to your confidential information and plans to steal it.
