You Probably Eat A Credit Card's Worth Of Plastic Every Week

Although there's a good chance you've heard of microplastics — tiny plastic particles produced from the deterioration of larger pieces of plastic or during the creation of commercial products, per National Geographic — the amount of these microscopic plastics you're consuming on a weekly basis may shock you.?

Research has indicated that humans consume microplastics both through inhalation and the ingestion of food, dust, and beverages.?

The University of Newcastle study, which was commissioned by WWF, found that the average person consumes around 2000 tiny pieces of plastic each week, or about 5 grams, which equates to the weight of the average credit card!?

"Not only are plastics polluting our oceans and waterways and killing marine life — it's in all of us and we can't escape consuming plastics. ... If we don't want plastic in our bodies, we need to stop the millions of tons of plastic that continue leaking into nature every year." - Marco Lambertini, Director General of WWF?

When we look at this problem as a whole, then we realize that maximum plastic generation & distribution is because of companies like FMCG or service providers. But when you look at the logistics and see the convenience factor, you realize that some jobs can be done best when there is plastic involved. When you dig deeper you realize that plastic is not the problem, it's what the companies choose to do with it afterwards ( After they send it to the market) is!?

For the past 1 year, we at Akshayakalpa Organic have started a recycling program called - " Give back the milk pack".?

We want to be responsible for the plastic that we generate. Let's give back the milk pack is one of the programs through which we take care of the plastic we generate that goes out into the market. We could do this with just the help of 25% of our customer base.?

Imagine, how much plastic we could save if all our consumers returned their used milk, buttermilk, panner packs etc.?

If you want to be a part of this program, we are dropping a link in the comments below.?
