Are You Preparing For Your Next?

Are You Preparing For Your Next?

So I have a few questions to ask you. They will require you to be honest with yourself.

Are you happy with your current role? Does your manager seem to be invested in your success? Are you living your best life? Do you want to write a book? If there are some areas for improvement, then the last question I want to ask is, are you preparing for your next?

For example -- if your lease is up on your apartment in three to six months and you know you want to move out, you might start looking for a new place and perhaps saving extra money to put a security deposit down. You can start preparing for the next place that you will call home. In the same way, if you know that your career is not where you want it to be, today is a good time to start preparing for your next.

It might not even be leaving your company but instead preparing for your next promotion. Whatever your “next” is, be ready for it when it comes. Earlier this week I spoke with Leadership Coach Kandia Johnson about our belief systems. And sometimes those old belief systems no longer serve us. Watch the replay so you can dismantle some of that negative self-talk to help prepare you for your next big thing!

Before I GO...

And, if you know anything about me, I am a lover of grits and rap lyrics. And I can't end this month's newsletter without dropping a gem. The lyric I am vibing on this month is a song called Can I Live by Jay-Z. There's a line in the song, "I know this game got valleys and peaks, expectation for dips, four precipitation we stack chips." You might not know what is ahead for you, but you can certainly plan and prepare for the highs and lows your career might face. You got this!

And don't forget you can catch me every Monday at Noon ET for my Linkedin Live show Secure The Seat.
