Are You Prepared for the Cost of an Accident and OSHA?

 Did you know fines are increasing 78% as of August 1, 2016!  (Information directly from www.osha.gov)

According to OSHA enforcement, with the change new maximum penalties would be as follows:

• Serious, Other-Than-Serious Posting Requirements were $7,000 per violation, and now are $12,471 per violation
• Failure to Abate were $7,000 per day beyond the abatement date and now are $12,471 per day beyond the abatement date
• Willful or Repeated were $70,000 per violation and are $124,709 per violation

After the initial catch up adjustment, OSHA will be required to implement annual cost of living increases, with the adjustment tied to the year to year percentage increase in the CPI (Consumer Price Index). Adjustments must be made by mid-January each subsequent year.
