Are you aware that the Health and Safety Executive (#HSE) has updated its First Aid Needs Assessment to include provisions for Mental Health? (https://www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/needs-assessment.htm)

"You should consider ways to manage mental ill health in your workplace which are appropriate for your business, such as providing information or training for managers and employees, employing occupational health professionals, appointing mental health trained first aiders and implementing employee support programmes."

Furthermore, following a parliamentary debate on legislative change around Mental Health First Aid in the workplace , a cross party group of MPs overwhelmingly backed a motion to introduce legislation to put mental and physical first aid on an equal footing through First Aid regulations.

Jackie Doyle-Price, the Minister for Mental Health, Inequalities and Suicide Prevention, confirmed that "The government has made some clear commitments to achieving parity of esteem for mental health... Updating the current first aid regulations to include mental health would move us one step closer to achieving this equality and we believe that it really is a case of when, not if, this change in law will happen.”
