Are you a part of the pack – or a lone wolf?
?“Individual commitment to a group effort–that is what makes teamwork, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” - Vince Lombardi, former head coach, and general manager of the Green Bay Packers.
We know it's essential for teams to have good relations between their team members. Teamwork is one of the most important factors in the success of any business and company. To pursue a stable and long career, it is crucial to be able to work well with others. The teamwork ability can be the key to the success of your dreams.
Countless personality types make a good fit for a good team, but all of them, regardless of their personality, must prioritize team and have a team mentality to be able to function as a group.
?In fact, 97 percent of employees and executives believe lack of alignment within a team impacts the outcome of a task or project, according to a survey by Clear Company — and if there’s a lack of teamwork, there will most definitely be a lack of alignment.“(1)
Are you able to always perform your maximum in a team or do sometimes you feel lost in the group?
To successfully complete a set project, each team member contributes to different things according to their strengths and skills, and of course by helping their teammates along the way.
We know that everyone has certain strong and weak points. More importantly, we need to know ourselves. What is it that I can do best? How can I bring my skill to optimize the results? What is it that I'm lacking? These are the questions we should be asking ourselves. However, whatever your strengths are, don't think some are more valuable than others. Everyone has something prized to offer. Finding your place in the team is crucial to being able to express this.
Qualities of Great Team members or leaders
Self-Awareness - In introspective lies the key to balancing out our need for self-improvement, proving ourselves, and the need to make a contribution and feel a part of the group. Maybe you have really good social skills and you're able to solve arguments, or you could be a good researcher or organizer. It's up to you to find this out.
Internal Motivation – How well you are at your job can be dependent on how motivated you are and what motivates you in general. For some people, it might be money or advancement in their career. It might be a sense of personal fulfillment or a humanitarian cause if you're doing anything in the social field. Whatever it is, when you find it, stick to it. Find the motivation within yourself, and you won't have to rely on others.
Responsibility – Lots of people feel often fear of failure and it's something that's been deeply rooted in the way our society works. From a very young age, we are taught to feel shame when we make mistakes, but only through mistakes and constructive criticism can we grow and improve ourselves. Owning up and taking on the responsibility you know you can handle is a good way of affirming your position in the team, or perhaps, shining a light on yourself and distinguishing yourself from others. Regardless of whether you're a team player or not, this is a very needed characteristic.
Flexible – Flexibility is an underrated social skill that is, probably, the most important one here. It relates to how well we can establish connections between people's voiced opinions, and our own. In other words, we can let go of our ego and adjust our position according to the situation and the group.

In short, two brains are better than one. Great things are always accomplished by a team, and for teamwork, good organization is crucial. When you have a team full of skilled people who excel at different tasks, and if they're keen to cooperate, you have an additional step towards success. If you're a manager or a team leader, it is important to recognize your contribution to the team, which is leading by example and not just bossing people around – nobody likes those. Also as a leader, you should know that not everybody is good at everything. That's why every team member brings something different to the table. A valuable contribution to the team's outcome and unity is allowing each individual to voice their opinions and concerns. Only that way you can understand your own team's dynamics which will eventually help you solve any issues you come across.
