Are you open about being straight?

Are you open about being straight?

Today - 11th October 2022 - is National Coming Out day!

(And yes, the irony of having Covid and staying in, isolating isn't lost on me!)

But, seriously! I want to just ask - to all those of you who are "openly straight" - when did you come out as straight? What did your friends and family say, were you accepted, still loved? Did people tell you they've suspected for years?

Did you spend your teenage years wondering what's wrong with you that you only find the opposite sex attractive? Did you convince yourself you were abnormal, unloveble, perverted?

Did you find yourself being bullied because of your heterosexual traits, then go into a workplace where the piss-taking was rife? Did you ever dive into a deep depression or contemplate suicide because you couldn't cope with not accepting or loving yourself!

So, go on, I challenge you - accept your straightness, come-out, be loud and proud about it, know that you are loved and stop giving a F*** what others think.

Oh and know this - for those of us that never came out as straight, but followed the path society expected, loving and accepting ourselves means we (now) have so much love to give, it hurts! My actions, as a man "pretending" to be straight, devastated the lives of those I loved the most - and I loved them so much, because I never loved myself.

So, if you're straight, f***ing own it - embrace the natural feminine and masculine energies you have, watch a good action movie, wear pink, play Rugby, eat Quiche, drive fast cars, love a cuddle!

Let's all share the love peeps and in this tough world - accept and support each other! And know that when you feel the strength to come out as straight, there'll be someone (like me) in the #lgbtqia community that will love and accept you for who you are - a human being! Happy Coming Out Day everyone!

PS - I'm on a journey to help others "own" their truth as it's a critical factor in Mental Health, so, if you'd like a chat, my phone is on 07832 340407
