Did you know that visiting the ocean reduces stress, anxiety, and depression? What's even more impressive is that it increases creativity and problem solving! But this isn't an article on going to the beach exactly, it's about escaping work on occasion.
Everyone should know how to put in a hard days work but for those who are success driven, resting their minds and bodies are done minimally so that they don't miss out on the opportunity to excel. As much as this is a good character trait to have when it comes to business drive, it can become obsessive and damaging to oneself's mentality and relationships.
We must all stop and enjoy the fruits of our labor every now and again. If not, then what are we working so hard for? If you say that it's for your family or children, then you must realize that it will be for nothing if they do not get to see who you are outside of work and as a person. Your children must have the love of a parent who makes their t-ball game a priority vs going to that meeting with the new account you just landed. It is OK as the executive of your career REGARDLESS of who you work for to put your family and self first.

It is a healthy choice for your mind, relationships, and careers to step away and make time for you!!
