?Are you at your very best and are you doing your very best? If not, you may miss an opportunity that could change or impact your life. People are always watching us whether we know it or not. It’s how we choose to show up in our daily lives ... not just at work. This past week, my son played his last lacrosse game of the season.?His team was currently undefeated, with the exception of an exhibition game against a Varsity travel team from Canada.?As I dropped him off at school earlier that morning, I asked him, “How do you want to finish the season? Remember to finish strong!” Pierce did score his team's first goal of the game, but to be totally transparent, the rest of the game he did not play at his highest level. Actually, he sucked the rest of the game.?????♂??
I'm not being mean or hard, just being real. Maybe because it was the last game and they pulled ahead. Maybe it was because he sprayed bug spray over his helmet and it got into his eyes. Maybe it was because he was up late on the phone the night before with his new girlfriend. Maybe he didn’t eat enough to fuel his body appropriately like my wife and I asked him to. Whatever the reason, his performance didn’t level up. Guess what? That day, a coach from another elite travel team was watching. If I had to guess, Pierce probably didn’t impress him that day. It could have been a college scout or maybe someday a business opportunity. My point is, you never know who’s watching. In order to take advantage of opportunities, we need to consistently be on our game. This may sound harsh to most who read this, but guess what? Too bad! It’s reality and my wife and I believe that we should always train, act, and be prepared for that opportunity.
The most successful fighters are always ready to go, if or when another fighter gets sick for a bout. The backup quarterback must be prepared and ready to jump out on the field if the starter gets hurt. Just like in the movie,?8 Mile...”If you had one shot...or one opportunity...to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment...would you capture it...or just let it slip?” So, be on your game because you never know who’s watching. Be prepared for the opportunity!
