Lockdown Story
Vrinda was excited to join one of those fortune 500 firms, which many like her aspired to be in, her dream job. With almost 10 years’ experience, she wasn’t oblivious towards organization politics… quickly she too grappled with the system, thankfully she made friends. Though experienced in her domain, na?ve towards organization dynamics, she hooked on to Sia, and they became best of buddies, for almost 2 years they spent good time supporting each other and swimming through organization dynamics. From visiting the salon, and shopping together, weekends seemed happier than before, no more just professional acquaintance but BFF for sure. Sia got promoted in January 2020, work pressures and organizational dynamics had seeped through, she started staying vary of Vrinda. Realising so Vrinda kept her self-engaged with her work, hoping Sia would definitely be there for her. Two months passed by, the lockdown was announced, Vrinda got a call from Priya who was her college friend and they were not in touch with each other for almost 10 years. Priya who had recovered from her cancer a year back wanted to meet Vrinda, the only way possible was a video chat. Priya and she spent almost three hours talking about their college days and the fun they had. On the 21st day of lockdown, Vrinda had severe stomach cramps, the usual PMS which had worsened, she needed help. She knew the only way she could get help was to call Sia, indeed her BFF, who else can help. Sia, was in no mood to take Vrinda’s call as a discussion on promotions was to happen soon, that whole night Vrinda slept off with pain killers, next morning Priya called again … the entire day Vrinda spent thinking and reflecting of how she failed to be in touch with her best friend Priya, definitely, the lockdown gave her this opportunity …
Life is beyond professional career, it’s a full circle, definitely, a friend in need is a friend indeed…
