You Never Know...

You Never Know...

A few years ago, I was lucky enough to have Aaron Baker on my podcast. For those of you who don’t know him, I’ll give you a quick background.

Aaron was a motocross racer in his teens and early 20’s. One day he was riding and took a bad spill, breaking his neck, and rendering him PARALYZED from the neck down. The doctors told him he would never walk again.

In his book “Rebellious Recovery”, he documents his journey from the DARKNESS that consumed him in the wake of his injury, to his remarkable recovery, leading him to become an INSPIRATIONAL figure for thousands of people all around the world.

In his books he recounts a moment, when he sat in a wheelchair at the edge of a pool, paralyzed and hopeless. He couldn’t help but think how easy it would be to simply roll his chair into the pool and end it all. However, it was in that moment that Aaron made a CHOICE to get better. He made a choice to improve his situation.

AND GUESS WHAT?...

That’s exactly what he did! Not only did he re-teach himself to stand and walk, but he actually rode his bike across the whole dang county… TWICE (maybe more). Then, he shot a video for Netflix where he walked through the dessert using a walker, then he wrote a book. On top of that, he has been a huge proponent for neurological research, which has provided, funding, research, and inspiration to help thousands of people find the will to walk again.?

He created all of that AFTER a moment when all seemed lost.

Here’s the point…

Sometimes when things seem the BLEAKEST and we feel the DOUBT creep in. As we wonder how we will ever move forward, and when the EASY WAY seems so alluring…

It’s in moments that we are provided the OPPORTUNITY to discover how POWERFUL we truly are.

As hard as the hard times can be, there is TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY wrapped in those little SHITSTORMS that threaten to bring us to our knees.

When we DARE to look forward in the face of adversity and find the FORTITUDE to stick with it during our little shitstorms, we gain the opportunity to grow in ways we never knew we needed.

We truly don’t have any idea what the future holds for us. I guarantee that Aaron had no idea how this horrible accident would help countless people literally get up, stand up, and move forward. ?

But, one day, he made a choice to stick with it... and here we are.

I can relate to Aaron’s story. I’ve been there, and maybe you have too. Shoot, maybe you’re there now. No matter the case, my hope is that Aaron’s story reminds us all to keeping moving forward, even when all seems lost, so we can one-day

MEET THE PERSON WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE.

Here’s to your journey in our world, my friend. Make today the beginning of something special!
