You need this if you’re feeling unmotivated, burnt out and unproductive

There are some days when none of the motivational videos and books do any good. Pushing ourselves constantly and feeling exhausted all time gets us nowhere. The type A mentality of hustling and getting things done isn’t for us on those days. These days you need take a step back, have an overview of your life, evaluate, rest and maybe even redesign your life.
The state of affairs of the world due to so many uncertainties with the pandemic, the work culture shifting, political situations and financial markets volatile doubled down with the inner FOMO and the constant need to do more, achieve more and be seen more, sometimes makes you feel like giving up everything. No matter how hard you try, on these days you can’t live up to your own standards and expectations.
So many of us are feeling unmotivated, burnt out and unproductive, yet putting on a show on social media that everything is just fine. This incoherence way of living makes us feel sad and drains away our zest for life
So if you’re feeling any of this, join me in taking steps to get your life back
Permission to do nothing
The most important thing is to give yourself the permission to do nothing. Its the same as getting fever or flu, or an ankle sprain, you would take a few days off right, so why not for your mental health? You need to trust yourself that you will get back up and get into work mode but now is not the time. And your body is literally begging you to take that break.
Pamper your inner child
Remember what you loved to do as a child and go and do it without much thought and analysis. This is not the time to be intelligent but to be intuitive. Get playful, waste time (a horror for productive people) and do what you have deprived yourself off.
Stop consuming media that’s pulling you down
So if its either Facebook , instagram or Linkedin, anyone in your network is posting about their achievements or highlights that makes you feel bad about your own life, its time to either mute or unfollow them for a while.
Taking this a step further take some days off social media completely calling it a digital detox so that you can restore your well being.
Start with baby steps
No need to rush and achieve everything in a day. Honor yourself and the rest you had given to your body. Let all that not go to waste. Taking baby steps and setting low expectations will set you up for success, rather than having Herculean tasks and disappointing yourself.
Keep a anti-stress list
Have a list of activities that alleviate your stress. Something that brings a smile. And no matter what, however busy your day is, try and incorporate this on a regular basis. Some of my favorite are going for a walk in the nature, making my favorite meal, unwind to my favorite music.
Talk to a trusted friend, mentor or therapist
Mental health and wellbeing is very unrated and people often only seek professional help when its a catastrophic situation. How about changing this and looking at this as an investment to keep your sanity? Just accepting the truth of your situation and talking it out, will let you know that you are not alone and you could also come up with creative solutions to navigate your current situation.
We are all in this together. If you ever need someone to talk to you, don't hesitate to reach out. Happy to have you in my network. Lets connect:
