You Need to Talk To People

In solopreneurship, there are fundamentally two types of businesses: human-centered and algorithm centered. I suspect most of the people reading this are human-centered, and human-centered entrepreneurs need to talk to people.

An Algorithm-Centered Business

Algorithm-centered business is a phenomenon of the Internet, a type of business where you do not need human relationships to have a profitable business.

?

For example, let's say you use paid traffic (Facebook ads or something) to run self liquidating offers (tiny offers that pay as much as the ads cost to run) which build an email list to a particular target audience. Then, you find affiliates on some affiliate marketplace and promote them to the list you created.

?

It's a perfectly good business model, but it's very cold and technical. No humans involved. You've likely not met many people who do this because they don't need to network. They don't go out to meet people.

?

Human-Centered Business

Most people who are attracted to my community are the other kind: human-centered businesses.

As opposed to the above, where one would start by seeking revenue then build the business around it, we start by seeking to serve, solve a problem, or share a gift, then work backwards to revenue.

And if that's your business,?you have to talk to people.

?

Sure, sometimes you have to take a course, it's good to read books, and I love starting my day with good YouTube videos, but the real action happens when you talk to people.

?

When I first started in the online space, I had no idea what my business would be, but I started visited BNI groups around the world which had just gone onto Zoom in 2020. This connected me to some powerful concepts including the use of email to share a message (like this one right here).

?

Networking events led to one-to-ones which led to more introductions and ideas.

?

That led to The Guy Who Knows a Guy Podcast where I interviewed over 150 experts and entrepreneurs and learned from each one.

?

This led to 60+ summits with over 380 speakers across my stage giving over 750 talks.

?

Most recently, I attended The Marketers Cruise, and hung out with 450 online entrepreneurs like you and me. That's where I got the idea to reach out to people focusing on sub-million dollar businesses.

?

Then, I talked to a bunch of people, and realized that they needed support to get from $0 to $1000 per month, and that is where the idea for Catapult came came from.

Stop Learning and Start Earning

Every course out there will tell you that they will teach you everything you need to know, but courses are static. Yes, they are great if there is a particular skill you know that you need to acquire, but if you don't know what your next step is, all the videos in the world won't help you.
