You need to get "unstuck"?

You need to get "unstuck"

I think about things to write about in odd places. Like now, as I wait for my oil change.

I observe people’s actions, one time and repeated, and often their paralysis, as they work through their daily personal and business sub-lives. Most times one aspect meshes with the another. And conflicts. Often these people are treading water, at one or both sub-lives simultaneously.

I often start writing with the people I meet in mind, but with no endgame, only to meander and explore some thoughts that I wish to share. Like now. My ensuing ideas may not apply to you, IYHO, or perhaps may make you uncomfortable. I say them anyway. Because I can IMHO and may be able to help you get "unstuck" or refer you to someone else who can.

Writing and connecting, which I started at different late stages in my career, makes me whole. Seeing a positive impact on others getting unstuck makes me very, very happy.

It affords me the opportunity to get that “something” out to you which I hope can benefit you, or that you can pass along to others. Or I can pass you along to a trusted, expert colleague.

I get notes thanking me for a referral, an idea, or a message, or less frequently one of these types of essays, as having been important or meaningful in a way that someone else thought enough to take the time to comment.

Thought leadership is a term I became aware of, but never thought it applied to me, humbly said. Then I found that others were asking my opinion and thanking me for my acute observations, while obvious to me, that seemed to help them in some highly appreciated way. Similarly, as a speaker, I watch people jot volumes of notes atop the handouts I provide. They want to know more. They return at a later event to get some more sips, if I may use a metaphor.

Recently I have engaged in speaking events in which I tee up the crowd with one big idea from me to them. and then reverse course and open it up to let them ask me questions for the bulk of the time we are together. I supply how-to technical answers as well as offer surrounding marketing concept advice. A deeper learning experience ensues. It is easy to be a technician and baldly answer “how the heck do I do this-or-that on LinkedIn,” but I feel I must go further, I want my attendees to learn a self-branding marketing lesson in each instance.

Satisfaction rankings are high from these sessions since I reference my LinkedIn profile as I supply thoughts and concepts for them to ruminate, emulate, adapt, or copy (which is OK too). Word gets around. Referrals ensue from sessions I held weeks ago, even several years ago.

Thus, I am fulfilled with a steady speaking schedule for the fall. Not that I can’t fit in more, or only go one season at time. Bring it. Meet me at one of these: https://connect2collaborate.wordpress.com/upcoming-educational-events/

Admittedly, I do tend to pontificate, as a former boss Mike called my style of delivery, so writing books seemed right for my sermonizing (yes, I’m unashamed):

How can I help you get unstuck?
