Set up a Google Alert!?

If you’re putting out content, speaking, or visible in other ways regularly, you should track where your name is showing up - whether it’s in online articles or people sharing social media posts about you.?

There are multiple ways to track mentions of something online, but the easiest way is to set up a Google Alert. Setting up a Google Alert allows you to put keywords into Google’s system and then you can receive an email any time that specific keyword is mentioned online.?

I highly recommend you do this if you run a business as well. Create alerts that search for every variation of your name and your business name(s) and you will then get an email when you’re mentioned in a news article or elsewhere online.?

Here are instructions on how to do it. It doesn’t take much time at all. Below is a screenshot of what mine looks like.?

I also have Google Alerts set up for topics that I like to read about. This is a way to automate keeping up with your industry news or things you’re passionate about as well.?


INSTAGRAM: You can boost more posts now.

LINKEDIN: 4 tips on how narrative creates connection.

?

LINKEDIN: 23 pages of video goodness.

?

META: 3.29 billion people use Facebook products DAILY. What a massive number.

?

META: Meta is working with government agencies on AI around national security applications.

?

PINTEREST: Pinterest is healthy.

?

SOCIAL MEDIA: Examples of industry leaders using their executive social media brands to strategically communicate publicly their congratulatory messages. The majority of the statements were made on X and one on LinkedIn. The choice to use X as the comms channel was key in that it’s more shareable, the “right” people would see it, and it’s a platform that’s friendlier to that type of message now.

SOCIAL MEDIA: It’s late to put out a message like this to your employees at this point, but it’s a good read and has elements that you can certainly use to communicate important messages in the future.

?

SOCIAL MEDIA: Pretty much everything I preach about personal branding.

?

SOCIAL MEDIA: I’m excited that CEO activism and LinkedIn’s rise were called out here.

?

SOCIAL MEDIA: I’m not sure what any of this will look like over these next four years but social media (among MANY other things obviously) will change.

?

SOCIAL MEDIA: Granted, there are a lot of specifics and details that would need to be ironed out, but overall, I’m for this.

?

TIKTOK: This is designed for those looking to spend ad dollars on the platform, but there are some upcoming webinars listed that you might find helpful.

?

TIKTOK: Why TikTok Shop is so important right now.

?

TIKTOK: They’re really pushing to make Black Friday bigger this year.

?

TIKTOK: I loved when this feature became available for Instagram Stories. I’m sure this will be just as cool for TikTok.

?

TIKTOK: How to cut through online? TikTok is saying relevance is the key. I agree, but I tend to use the word “timely” more. Regardless, make your brand stand for something and be important for your audience right now.

?

TIKTOK: Canadians can still access the app though.

?

YOUTUBE: New tools for creators.
