You Need a Change Agent for Digital Transformation

Not everyone will be excited about digital transformation, one would be envisioning for its organization. Some might have a hard time learning even the existing systems and processes of the firm. Since the firm is now progressing towards the new tech-oriented systems and processes, it may again give them a tough time adjusting to the change.??

?However, one would be able to identify that there will always be some people in the organization who are quite excited about the new change and development about to take place in the firm or in the departments. Some of these enthusiastic people would have lent their helping hands in the past as well for the new developments in the organization. These people can be called upon to become the catalyst of digital transformational change.??

?Hence, it becomes important to identify the change agents who can nudge all others to use the neo-technological aspects of the organization. A change agent is a person within or from the outside of a firm, who helps a company or a part of it to transform itself how it operates in present times. Of course, a change agent can always be brought from outside.

However, it may be a costly affair at times to hire a new person with less understanding of the current systems and processes of a firm. It sometimes can fail even the whole transformation effort also. Therefore, it is widely recommended to have change agents from and within the organization.?

?Here is a 6-step process for higher authorities to employ the change agents from and within the firm for the digital transformation of an organization:

  1. Go ahead and look for the change agent with their visible excitement for technology, change, and new developments
  2. Once the identification of the change agents completes, have a briefing with them
  3. Appoint them formally taking their existing roles and responsibilities into consideration
  4. Encourage the change agents to reach out to the people for their active participation in the ongoing transformation drive
  5. Empower the change agents with the appropriate authorities
  6. Formally recognize their work, once the transformation and application of the digital technologies start performing up to the expectations?

It will always be hard to nudge the people for the use of the new technologies that are implemented as the outcome of digital transformation. There, the change agents will play a very important role. They will make people familiar with the new digital technologies and encourage them to deploy the tech to bring out the process excellence. Therefore the higher management in any firm must understand the importance of the change agents and employ them for the greater benefits of the digital transformation.?
