You Need to Become a Content Creator Today!
Now is the time to become net-positive on content creation by spending time on it on a daily-basis
No matter what your job, role, or industry, you should dedicate some time every day to producing some quality content. In today’s world that can mean a lot of things and there are a number of options out there for mediums for content creators. This means that there is no excuse for you to not get your name out there and be developing quality content every day.
There are numerous benefits of content creation. They help build your presence and your brand. The act of actually developing and creating the content is also beneficial because it forces you to improve your skills in the subject area of that content, which should be related to your core job function. Researching and developing great content requires you to think, read, listen, and learn before you publish the content, and this is a great self-improvement exercise. It forces you to build expertise and become an expert in specific areas.
Personally, I stick to writing LinkedIn articles and posts. This is most relevant to me and my career. However, I have people in my industry that build their brand in other mediums as well, focusing on video creation or taking great thought-provoking pictures or building diagrams that help explain a complex concept. Your medium is totally up to you, and you should allow yourself the artistic freedom to express yourself however you feel most comfortable. The whole process should be enjoyable and provide you both value and a positive experience.
For me in sales, becoming a content creator is fundamental because means I will have a stronger brand on LinkedIn. This will lead to a higher Social Selling Index that will improve my presence in sales. It will also lead to more opportunities in my career both at my current company and other companies as well. Building a brand is everything as I have written about in the past and getting known for it are essential elements of a successful career.
The fact is that anyone can go out and start producing content today. The only cost is your time, and the higher the quality of that content is, the higher the return on your investment. There really is no excuse to not getting off the sidelines and getting into the game of content creation. So go out there and start publishing content. Take the time to add your personal perspective on any topic of your choice. Build your brand and become known. You will not regret it because the only way is up!
