You Must Be Severed To Think Keyword Guessing Is A Good Job Search Strategy

Severance is an Emmy-nominated and gripping series on Apple+, set in a futuristic throwback workplace, amid 1980's vintage computer terminals and offices.

One of its central storylines is that to work at cutting-edge biotech firm Lumon Industries, workers have to be severed, a surgery that makes employees to forget everything about their workday when they leave work. That might sound like it brings work-life balance, but in the series, it makes workers a little nuts (and paranoid about it).

So here's why you must be severed if you think that trying to guess keywords helps your job search:

  • I Can't Think Of Any Jobs That Involve Keyword Guessing, Can You?:?How many jobs require keyword guessing skills? Even SEO marketing jobs require research to choose keywords. Use improved research to find an individual hiring manager's current needs, rather than relying on the generic job description that's the same for many hiring managers (even if they have different needs).
  • Job Ads Don't Reflect The Right Keywords:?Job descriptions are written by HR and Legal departments as generic descriptions, providing generic job descriptions for different departments, business units, products, locations, and hiring managers to protect the company against lawsuits or government action. They aren't written to find the right candidates for an individual hiring manager's needs ... that's why the hiring manager gives different criteria to recruiters to build a short list of recommended candidates.
  • JobScan Doesn't Help:?JobScan suggest keywords from job descriptions, and you can see above that job descriptions don't reflect the needs of an individual hiring manager ... so JobScan will recommend incorrect keywords.
  • Why Guess?:?Why would you guess, when instead you could learn exactly what a hiring manager needs? Don't you think that if you learned what each individual hiring manager needs that you'd get more interviews, advance in the hiring process, and get more offers faster?

You'd already be using more effective information than guessing keywords from job descriptions, if you new how. So rather than keep guessing, I'll show you ...
