You Are More Than

In life, we often encounter moments that stretch our strength, resilience, and perspective—moments that lead us to discover facets of ourselves we might never have known otherwise. This was the journey my family and I experienced when we moved my mother from New Jersey to Kentucky just before her 88th birthday. It was a sudden and unexpected transition, and yet, laced with the grace of God, every aspect unfolded as smoothly as one could hope. Yet, this was more than just a move; it was a journey of personal revelation.

My sisters and I joined forces, facing challenges that, though unfamiliar, united us with a depth we hadn’t needed before. Together, we faced tasks that stretched our capabilities—physically, mentally, and emotionally—far beyond what we’d experienced in the past. This move demanded more than logistics and coordination; it called for emotional endurance and resilience that none of us had anticipated.

In the midst of this experience, each of us was forced to confront the vulnerability and transparency of our own emotions—allowing ourselves to be seen and supported in ways our history had not required. I realized through this journey that I am more than the version of myself I had allowed to show up in the past. We are more than our roles, our titles, or even our familiar routines. We are beings of strength and vulnerability, interwoven with a grace that allows us to rise, even when faced with the hardest of times.

To anyone else facing transitions, tough decisions, or trying times—know this: you are more than you might have allowed yourself to be before. There’s a depth within you, a strength you haven’t fully seen yet. Embrace it. Trust in it. Allow yourself to grow and reveal the powerful person you truly are.
