How many of you would have heard your stakeholders say "Take Initiative", seek answers, what does that really mean? why would you need that ?

Let me share a story that I came across : A frozen house in Australia, it is -40 degrees inside, 5.30 pm everyone leaves, and the General Manager (GM) of the plant goes inside to check everything is fine, but with the door closer he got locked inside. The door can only be opened from outside not from inside, he shouted but no one came to rescue since no one was there, it was end of the day for plant workers. He kept waiting, an hour passed by, no one came, he collapsed. Suddenly after another half an hour, one person came, rubbed his back and the GM came to senses. He said Thank You, who are you; you saved my life today. The man said, Sir I am the security guard of this plant, every morning you tell me "Good Morning" and every night you tell me "Good Night". Today I heard your "Good Morning" but not your "Good Night" so came looking for you.

This tells what taking initiative can do to anyone, learning I took back from the story is "If you take initiative, the world will take initiative, the day you stop taking initiative, everyone will forget you"

so friends next time you want to ask a question in your team meeting, go ahead and ask, seek answers to your doubts, share ideas. Take Initiative !!!!
