That You May Learn Wisdom!

Reading: Wisdom 6:1-11

Hear, O kings, and understand;

???learn, you magistrates of the earth’s expanse!

Hearken, you who are in power over the multitude

???and lord it over throngs of peoples!

Because authority was given you by the Lord

???and sovereignty by the Most High,

???who shall probe your works and scrutinize your counsels.

Because, though you were ministers of his kingdom, you judged not rightly,

???and did not keep the law,

???nor walk according to the will of God,

Terribly and swiftly shall he come against you,

???because judgment is stern for the exalted–

For the lowly may be pardoned out of mercy

???but the mighty shall be mightily put to the test.

For the Lord of all shows no partiality,

???nor does he fear greatness,

Because he himself made the great as well as the small,

???and he provides for all alike;

???but for those in power a rigorous scrutiny impends.

To you, therefore, O princes, are my words addressed

???that you may learn wisdom and that you may not sin.

For those who keep the holy precepts hallowed shall be found holy,

???and those learned in them will have ready a response.

Desire therefore my words;

???long for them and you shall be instructed.

Responsorial Psalm 82:3-4, 6-7

R.???(8a) Rise up, O God, bring judgment to the earth.

Defend the lowly and the fatherless;

???render justice to the afflicted and the destitute.

Rescue the lowly and the poor;

???from the hand of the wicked deliver them.

R.???Rise up, O God, bring judgment to the earth.

I said: “You are gods,

???all of you sons of the Most High;

yet like men you shall die,

???and fall like any prince.”

R.???Rise up, O God, bring judgment to the earth.

Alleluia 1 Thes 5:18

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

In all circumstances, give thanks,

for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel Lk 17:11-19

As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem,

he traveled through Samaria and Galilee.

As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him.

They stood at a distance from him and raised their voice, saying,

“Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!”

And when he saw them, he said,

“Go show yourselves to the priests.”

As they were going they were cleansed.?

And one of them, realizing he had been healed,

returned, glorifying God in a loud voice;

and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.?

He was a Samaritan.

Jesus said in reply,

“Ten were cleansed, were they not?

Where are the other nine??

Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?”?

Then he said to him, “Stand up and go;

your faith has saved you.”

That You May Learn Wisdom!

Those who keep the holy precepts hallowed shall be found holy,

and those learned in them will have a ready response.

Time is fast escaping me;

accept, O Lord, my life!

In my heart, I hold you, the treasure that must shape every move I make.

Follow me, watch over me; yours

is my loving, rejoicing, and suffering.

May no one catch even a sigh.

Hidden in your tabernacle

I live, I work for all.

May the touch of my hand be yours,

only yours be the tone of my voice.

In this rag of myself

may your Love return to this arid world,

?with the water that gushes abundantly

from your wound, O Lord!

Let wisdom divine clear away the

gloomy affliction of many, of all.

(Chiara Lubich)

???Lepers were the most despised people in society, and as Jesus healed the ten lepers, one would think all would be grateful. Only one came to give thanks, and he was given the healing of wholeness of body and soul as a gift of Jesus, for his faith.

???In the "lepers", --the homeless, the drug addicts, those harmed by religion, political differences, and by racism, homophobia, "May the touch of my hand be yours, only yours be the tone of my voice", and may we join: "The Fellowship of the Weak":

"Fear, shame, and guilt often make us stay in our isolation and prevent us from realizing that our handicap, whatever it is, can always become the way to an intimate and healing fellowship in which we come to know one another as humans.?After all, everyone shares the handicap of mortality. Our individual, physical, emotional, and spiritual failures are but symptoms of this disease. Only when we use these symptoms of mortality to form a fellowship of the weak can hope emerge. It is in the confession of our brokenness that the real strength of new and everlasting life can be affirmed and made visible. "Fr. Henri Nouwen

"Life is short.

We do not have too much time to gladden the hearts of those who travel with us.

So be swift to love.

Make haste to be kind.

And the peace of God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-will bless you and be with you always. Amen"

Giving Tuesday has become an international celebration of giving. This year, #GivingTuesday will once again show the power of communities coming together to support the causes closest to our hearts.

We have three days for shopping and getting deals- Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday is a day for giving back. People all over the world participate in this annual event to remember the "reason for the season." This year, Temenos Catholic Worker will be participating to ensure we can continue to be out on the frontlines of faith-based advocacy for climate, street youth, and human dignity. Our goal is to raise $2,000.

St. Francis and his friars went out on the roadside asking for alms to fund their work. Just like him, we are in solidarity with the poor and marginalized, we care for creation and raise consciousness on the need to hear “the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” We need your support to do it!

Help us raise awareness about our goal by sharing your support on social media and using the hashtag #GivingTuesday to get your friends and family involved.
