Are you marketing rather than selling?

Are you marketing rather than selling?

I want you to have a little think about some of the stuff you probably see of mine that gets complete crickets - no likes, no shares, no love, no comments, no nothing.?

I'm going to say it's about 70%. So if I was posting five times and there was only one of those that I got a comment on, which essentially, when I started out, it was, do you think I would think I was no good at it? No! Especially if you're providing a service that people don't want to publicly talk about. If you help people with overeating, they're not all over social media going, “Oh my god, I just ate three Burger Kings and a giant Twix”. They're watching you, so if your target market are very private and a bit ashamed, your job is to get them nearer.?

We need to get them nearer. We get to convert them into your inbox. We need them to download something. We need to get them nearer. They are not freely out on social media admitting their shit!?

Really think about behavior - the sales behavior, the needs, fears and desires of your ideal client. You will have people that are not your ideal client that are probably your best social supporters. They will like and share everything, and we love them - they're helping the algorithms, they are showing support, and we want those because we need those. Otherwise, it's a dark, dank place, isn't it? It can feel like you’re literally banging your head against a brick wall.?

Truth, I don't like selling, most people don't!

Most of my clients bravely approach me after following me for a while. All we do is have a real conversation, they decided they might want to work with me, we talk openly and agree either way. We're in a lovely space. It's enjoyable and easy. You should never have to be convincing someone, overcoming objections and using outdated closing techniques! Yuk.

So that's why marketing is important, folks and that's why selling is otherwise a bit icky. When someone comes towards you and they think they need what you do but they're not sure, if you're desperate, you're in a convincing conversation and that is a horrible place to be. That is what everyone's scared of.?

When I say sales to you, that's what you think of. You're going to go into a place and they're going to try and make you buy something you don't want, and that's why you hate it. But when you've done all of the marketing part right, when that person does come towards you, it's a joyful, beautiful connection. That person is like, “I want to work with you”, and you go, “Brilliant, let's do it”, and they say, “Excellent, when can we start?”, and you go, “Oh, God, my diary is a bit full, we have to try to find a way, our biggest challenge is how quickly we can get started”.?

That's the energy you all want if you're selling a service. If it's a product, it’s how quickly can you get it to me? But with a service, it’s how quickly can I start? What is the process? That is the energy you want, do you not??

You don't want to be convincing people anywhere. We don't want circling around in DMS and “say yes, if you want to this 10 times”. We want to be authentic in what we do, and the way we do that is by showing up.?

We show up as our authentic selves, talking about who we are, who we serve, what we do, how we do it. And the less selling intention you've got about that, the more real it is, and the more people feel it.
