Are You Making Positive Impact?

My birthday was this week, and it got me thinking about impact. I thought: so far, how have I positively impacted people, and how can I do more? What more can I do to change people’s lives for the better? How can I help more people to reach higher levels of fulfillment? These questions pervaded my mind.
By positive impact, I mean to empower people to discover and fulfill their life’s purpose. It is to know that your commitment to your purpose is a catalyst for others to achieve theirs. We are all connected by purpose, and it is one reason why who you are and what you do inspires people to step out into their truth.
We all can make a positive impact in unique ways – and no impact is too small. You can positively change people’s lives in creative ways with what you have, where you are, and you can start today. As I thought about making more impact, what came to mind were three simple steps that can help anyone anywhere make a good impact.
Be Intentional: A long time ago, I decided to do work that would empower leaders to succeed. My intention was clear – I knew that I wanted to help leaders win in their roles. Hence, my chosen professional path. My career was shaped by my decision to empower leaders. It was intentional.
Making a positive impact is not a dicey affair. You must be clear on your goal. You must be sure that it is something you want to do. This is important because when the road gets tough, your intentionality would keep you focused. What problem do you want to solve? And how? Be clear about the nature of the impact that you wish to make.

Be Generous: The excellent expression of your gift creates a positive impact. Furthermore, you must be willing to freely share your gifts with people. Your gift is a solution to people’s problems, and your willingness to serve your gift is generosity. Unwillingness to express or share your gifts and talents limit your impact. Don’t hide your light; let it shine.
Be Strategic: Yes, you are gifted, but where is your gift needed? Who is your gift for? Where will you make the most impact? My design dictates that I focus on leaders in my work, and therefore, they are the most impacted audience. Find out the context in which your gift is most effective and make a positive impact there.
