So often we miss the smaller basic things preventing performance.  And our default action is to train the staff.  But do you know what the exact performance problem is?  Doing training may be the most expensive budget item in your organisation – worst of all, it may not improve the people’s performance.  Consider whether you can truthfully answer these questions:

Do you know where the performance gaps are?

Can you correctly identify performance needs?

Are you focusing on performance end results?

Are you evaluating the solutions once implemented?

Are you measuring the right outcomes?

Are you adding performance value?

Are you making impact in your organisation?

Do you have credibility with line management?

Do you look at the total performance picture before deciding what to do?
