I've heard some people say "video is not for me..."
I get it (I do!!) and to be honest, there are loads of great ways to reach an audience - animation, creative posts, podcasts etc...
Buuutttttt.....(and I don't like saying 'but' - but I'm doing it!)...
I just want to say that we can develop a healthy relationship to the camera - to seeing ourselves on videos, on screens.
SO, if your audiences like video, I want you to know that there are ways to make it your #bff or at the very least make it a more comfortable communication process and skillset in yours and your team's life.
Videos are here to stay and for many of us it's almost inevitable that at some point we will be featured in one!
Over the last two years, and at the peak of the pandemic, employer-branded videos have made a great impact. There's more of them (slowly). More being shot on smartphones. More real videos from real people - sometimes #wfh, or in the office, or in the warehouse or laying on the floor exhausted after too much travel!
In my opinion, they have helped immensely to provide transparency, showcasing how people have been dealing with world changes and their business changes, solutions and growth. They have helped to expand the reputation of many companies - internally and externally.
In the recent 2021 Future of Recruiting Study from Careerarc , it says that
Our?key insights report ?already revealed that employer brand has become increasingly important over the years, with 82% of candidates considering employer brand before applying to a job—a 7% increase when we asked the same question in 2015.
So you see, video may not be for you... but it may be worth further enquiry because they do help and they do matter when it comes to talent attraction, employee engagement, forming connections, and more.
Candidates are looking for a company whose doors are open for everyone to see. They are attracted by those whose culture, values, and opportunities align with theirs. They want social proof that this one company lives up to its promises.
Especially now with the impending Great Resignation.
They don't want CEOs talking about their business - unless perhaps they're laying on the floor after too much plane - yes, this is what a very recent client of mine, who is a CEO, told me he did.
People want to see and hear from real people. They want to hear from employees and leaders. They want to know what a DIL looks like and what the roadmap ahead consists of and who is in their team and how will their contribution help!?
And, isn't it easier to recruit talent when they are already attracted to your company's reputation and brand? Of course! Does this help the recruitment process? Yup!

Video is the medium of 'show, don't tell' and it's a great time to share who you are. It's a great time to be human and transparent in a world where there is so much AI and technology, and when things are not always so clear.
It's an opportunity to be a pillar amongst the motion sickness of our whirlwind times. By simply being yourself and being genuine... you're already steps ahead! These are standout qualities in today's world. They're #human!
Authentic employer-branded videos are a perfect introduction from your company to the people you want to connect with. See the below stat? Huge, right?

3 年So many amazing resources, Olivia Rose Solomons ???? Video is so powerful when you feel like you can connect with the person recording it. When their personality comes across and you’re interested in the material. So grateful for your content, and excited to put it to use! ??
