Are you lying to yourself?
The lies you tell yourself are holding you back.

Are you lying to yourself?

Now, here's the biggest problem I see among those who fail to achieve permanent results in fitness (or anything really): Self Sabotage.

I get the struggles.

You have a partner.

You have kids or pets.

You have responsibilities, a job, elder parent etc.

They are your top priority—always have been, and always will be.

That's the way it should be.

But they can become your excuses. Know the difference.

Your excuse to not hit the gym consistently.

Your excuse to avoid bettering yourself.

Your excuse...

To not pursue the greatest expression of yourself.

Your partner and kids require time and energy.

But they also deserve your best. Your absolute best. (Or you won't be around to see them grow into adults!)

So when you feel yourself lovingly thinking of your family when you say:

“I just don’t have time in my day to commit to [insert that thing that will initiate growth in your life],”

Remember that they are the exact REASON for you to FIND time and energy to raise your game.

They aren’t the reason you don’t have time.

They are the reason that you need to go all in, find time, and create a superhero version of you.

Let your excuses become your reasons

Why do I do what I do, helping people find the spark for fitness?

I could say it was first losing 60 pounds. That'd be the easy, canned answer. But that was based in self-interests at the time. I wanted more attention from women, plain and simple.

The real reason starts and ends with a traumatic experience at my gym 5-6 years ago of seeing a man drop dead.

I was running a small group circuit training in the gym.

All of a sudden, one of the guys pressing dumbbells dropped them to the floor with a thud.

I thought he was just done with the set ... up until he fell off the side of the bench clutching his chest.

He was a big guy. Probably close to 300 pounds.

The look in his eyes when he first rolled over... I can still vividly remember. A look of true fear.

By the time EMT arrived, I thought he was a goner.

I found out later he had a wife and two teenage children, and did survive and now thrives (in fact, I saw him there last summer and he's down at least 50 pounds)

I nearly watched a man die in front of me because his lifestyle and health got to the point of no return.

He may have took action - but that action was too late in the game.

In the Western world the ease of access - to food and convenience - is making us overweight, stressed and depressed.

You are meant to move.

You are meant to skip the odd meal.

You are meant to struggle a bit (that's how our body's adapt and evolve)

It's not information you need.

It's implementation.

Following through on a plan long enough and consistently enough to make a permanent lifestyle change.

The daily steps.

So why do I do what I do?

Because of guys and gals like the one mentioned here.

Getting you losing a few pounds a week is the easy part.

It’s simple science.

But there is SO MUCH more to it than just diet and exercise.

What do you do when life throws curveballs?

I have two kids myself and know the struggle.

What about finding something sustainable instead of trying the latest fad diet of the month?

Often we wait for a wake-up call to do something about it. That's human nature.

The good news is that it's not too late for any of you reading this... but you need to take the daily action steps (i.e. get to the gym now ??).

And you don’t need to do it alone.

That's why I do what I do.
