Are You Lucky ..........?
When I look back at the inner London city I grew up in years back, I reflect and ask myself can I contribute in making a difference or collectively with other talented people in society.I want to to give back to the local community. I was raised in.I reflect and say can we initiate a policy where people , policy, power and progression become the real words of current society.
1.Policy
I am guilty of not contributing enough to my local community and I will explain why.As an educated person every time I walk past buildings and block of flats and i see idle kids and adults on the street I say to myself why cant I organise or mobilise talented individuals in my area to help teach , coach, inspire and occupy the minds of these sacred people who have potential but have no guidance or hope!
2.People
When you invest in people with quality in any field or discipline I come to the conclusion that society is better for it.The greatest asset any society has is to make sure her citizenry from Brixton ,Cambridge,to John O'groats has the best possible tools to make her populace competitive, knowledgeable and transparent.A society with an optimum level of the right mix will eventually reflect a healthy economy.
3. Power
Is it true Power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely ? I have never tasted power I have always been influential (limited influence). How can we not see that power belongs to the people. I am a Londoner and I take pride in how my borough should be shaped, or should I ? Oh this monstrous scourge in our inner cities that most know about-crime,fraud,violence,robbery and other vices that are not reported because of fear of reprisals,or even lack of know how?
4.Progression
As awareness grows in the inner cities, our message is getting through and we can see positive results. It is important that robust indicators are put in place to show real improvements.I will like to see people from from diverse backgrounds take up the mantle or initiative and drive up the numbers of people (idle) who become productive make better use of their new opportunities and time !
5. Peaceful co-existence
As people get educated and their goals become higher. It is inevitable that society will be better for it. I do not want to know our differences I want us to be together in what gives us all a unified bond -us . I see society rapidly changing and taking a turn for the better.I have just taken a bus through my once no go area and I can hardly recognise the place,Is this how far we have come -wow.
6. Finally, we subconsciously do good deeds in our daily lives both at home and work which is great. I will like us to give that final push and help someone by making time and sharing knowledge /experience-Giving back is a great feeling!
Have a great weekend.

8 年'Are you favoured.....?' would be my title. My experience of work has made me very cynical. The most talented, hardworking and creative people are not necessarily the ones that will progress. Those that are favoured will. Nobody, should judge those kids, they are not all idle. They have no great influence on the system. The government and the influential people should be blamed for stealing their hopes and dreams. It's sad but these kids and many others feel as if there is no opportunities for them. Making further education affordable and building more affordable housing would be a start. When I say 'affordable', I mean really affordable for a low earner not a City worker and their partner on £50,000 per year each. Don't forget to say hello next time you pass Jim and don't judge.

8 年The meaning behind what you have written is fantastic; the question in my mind is of practicality and action. Does an individual doing singular powerful acts mean as much as mobilising an organisation to do greater good and following policy. I would suggest that the challenge you presented can be achieved (and even measured) in singular acts. An act of kindness, with forethought, can be "passed forward" achieving a string of positive results that eventual creates the progression that you wrote about. Noticeable results do take time, but as if you point out, if we were all to look carefully at the beauty of a singular act of kindness - perhaps for some the journey could begin today.
