You Are Loved!!! Practicing Self-Love

When your mind is overwhelmed, it can easily think fearful thoughts. Because of the mind-body connection, you can then feel anxious, lost, and powerless. The I Am Loved Meditative Movement can move you into a place of peace and calm.

Love is associated with the heart. Are you exercising your heart in ways that make it strong and healthy? Studies show that consistent lower and higher-level cardio exercises like walking, hiking, running, biking, swimming, rowing, and cross-country skiing can improve your heart health.

Cardio exercises use oxygen differently than strengthening, flexibility, and balance movements. Based on the intensity of the aerobic exercises, your lungs transfer oxygen through the blood and directly to your heart at a higher rate. The benefits of aerobic exercises include:

  • decrease risk of heart disease
  • lower blood pressure
  • increase in HDL or "good" cholesterol
  • better control of blood sugar

Loving yourself means participating in exercises that elevate your heart rate. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) state that individuals should engage in 30 minutes or more of moderate-intensity physical activity on most days of the week.

Whenever you engage in a cardio program, you want to make sure you spend time warming up and cooling down your muscles. You also need to remember that your desired level of intensity differs from other people. It is based on factors like fitness level, medications, and goals. Consult a physician before starting a program.

What is Your Language of Love?

  1. Words of Affirmation?– If this is your love language, unsolicited compliments mean the world to you.
  2. Quality Time?– Being there for this type of person is critical, but really being there–with the TV off, fork and knife down, and all chores and tasks on standby–makes your significant other feel truly special and loved.
  3. Receiving Gifts?– If you speak this language, the perfect gift or gesture shows that you are known, you are cared for, and you are prized above whatever was sacrificed to bring the gift to you.
  4. Acts of Service?– The words he or she most want to hear: "Let me do that for you."
  5. Physical Touch?– Hugs, pats on the back, holding hands, and thoughtful touches on the arm, shoulder, or face–they can all be ways to show excitement, concern, care, and love.

What is your predominant love language? Mine is words of affirmation. Hence the reason the technique integrates them so I can affirm myself and fill my own needs.
