Are you looking to WIN BIG in Business?

Have you ever been sitting at your desk, looked at the clock, and realized you have another 5 hours before you can leave?
You can't wait for that moment when you can hit the eject button from your uncomfortable desk chair since you are so-damn-tired....
Tired from what?
Sitting? Looking at a computer screen? Doing your day to day tasks called "work"...
Well the reality is this...
You are not alone...
Most American workers sit at their desk exhausted and waiting for the bell to ring.
Why?
They are not fit for the job. The spaces that they inhabit for the majority of the day are not built for focus, internal peace, and performance...
Bright lights, high levels of electronics, and controlled chaos are not the breeding ground of success...
Not to mention, the hamster wheel flow of meetings, bouncing between in-person to phone / zoom conferences that leave little time in between to even digest the content and action items/ take-aways from these "idea-fests"...
But.. this is our reality...
The real truth though, is if you want to not just survive in today's work culture, but thrive, like a professional athlete trains for their profession, so should you train for your sport.
Showing up is no longer good enough. You should get yourself mentally and physically ready to play the most competitive sport in the World; Business.
If you want to win that is.
You name it. Big business, small business, entrepreneurship, it does not matter!
You must be ready to play, compete, and prepare yourself to overcome adversity in an effort to WIN.
Most of the modern day workforce is physically and mentally "unready" to play.
They are fit enough to "show-up" and get through the day (barely), but certainly not ready to take names and win.
That is the problem.
Companies spend millions of dollars per year on programs to increase productivity and the bottom line, yet their #1 resource, (the human capital) they deploy on a day to day basis is not fit for the game.
Problem.
So rather than think it is a "motivation" problem, let's realize it is much more of a "personal readiness" problem...
If Companies can understand the correlation between physical and mental readiness and on-the-job performance, the game would change.
What if Companies instituted coaching at the c-suite and employee levels?
What if Companies valued so much that their workforce be ready to play, that they invested in an on-site coaching and motivation team...
What is amazing, is that for those who watch the series Billions, the role of a workplace Coach is quite evident, as played by the character Wendy.
This coach/ team provides not only the inspiration, motivation, and daily check-ins (accountability) people need, but also helps them to keep their eye on the prize.
This team engages the C-suite and Employees daily, showing them how their physical/mental readiness can not only move the bottom line upward, but their personal bottom line upward.
So rather than hire some text-book/ theory based wellness management program for your business; Why not bring in Coaches that are trained to get the most our of their players?
I have spent my entire career helping elite athletes take their game to the next level, providing daily accountability, training, and re-focusing on team and personal goals that it has always blown my mind Companies have not yet realized they are playing in the most competitive arena there is.
Everyday new start-ups are emerging trying to take marketshare. Working to take your top performing employees to expedite the training/ learning curve.
Companies say they want to win, be the industry leaders, and hold the championship trophy in their hand, but lack the true "readiness" to do so..
The parallels between business and sport are huge. Yet, sport prepares, manages, and monitors players daily, while Corporations simply measure you based on productivity yet provide minimal tools that focus on the sustainability and consistency of performance.
Human capital is everything when it comes to winning. Strong mindsets, great habits, and daily training make for strong, confident people who are ready to perform.
Maybe it is time to rethink how you are getting your workforce "ready to play"...
Below are a few examples of what Coaching at the C-Suite & Employee Levels may look like:
Start with an evaluation & assessment: Much like we do with our athletes, we must start by understanding where those "assets" are at currently by taking a mental, physical, and emotional snapshot of them... (what makes them tick? what are they working for? why are they here? why do they stay? what are common distractions for them? what do they like about being here? what do they dislike? what would make their work experience that much better? what obstacles and challenges to they face?)... the key here is working at an individualized level....
Deploy the P.A.C. Principle: Once we understand "who" somebody really is, what drives them, and what their wants are... we can then deploy P.A.C., which is an acronym for Plan, Accountability, Coaching.... Even the greatest performers in the World would struggle without a clear plan, daily accountability, and daily coaching... That is what allows for massive consistency to take place.. That consistency is what leads to the favorable outcome and end-result. It is important during this process that plan is constantly being adjusted and elevated as performance and execution is improving...
Debriefing & Breakdowns: Now that we understand our C-Suiter/ Employee, we have given them a plan, daily accountability, and coaching, it is important that we monitor their progress in 4-week micro-cycles. During these debriefing/ breakdown meetings, we repeat the above process, making sure their is still alignment, and we adjust the plan based on achievement. This is also a great way of moving the c-suite/ employee through their own personal growth and development process.
We all want to get closer to our goals..
We all should realize how our actions and achievements can help the Company grow, and therefore we grow as a result. If more Companies can become more "entrepreneurial", showing employees how their personal achievements can help them "win" more, a culture of winning can emerge. Planning, Accountability, and Coaching allows for consistent movement towards goal. It allows for measured growth. It creates a human and real connection in the workplace. The results of that are increased satisfaction amongst the team, as well as a thriving corporate culture without the gimmicks.
