Tip – Have a doppelg?nger up your sleeve. Or you could have a mixture of two people (you could be their love-child) for breaking the ice when you meet people for the first time.
Who’s your doppelg?nger?
Recently I wrote in my famous Friday Tips about presenting & producing a movie show on Rapture TV in 1998 (in pic above).?I used to cover all my own shots with film footage because I hated watching myself back (how silly I was).
After the email I was inundated with comments about how I looked just like the singer/songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor.?The spitting image.?LOL, can you see why?
I’ve had a few doppelg?ngers in my time including; Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Imelda Staunton, the actress Jaqueline Bisset and Dawn French!
As you may have seen I’ve written about doppelg?ngers a few times over the years and each time I get the most surprising responses.
Must say, it’s a real honour to look like or remind people of any of these talented ladies.?What about you?
Who do you look like?
TIP - Rather than fight your lookalike match, learn to embrace it as it will come in handy as an icebreaker at networking events.?In my experience, everyone has at least one doppelg?nger!
“Mum, you give me Professor Umbridge vibes in that jacket!”
Last year I took my daughter (16) and her mate on the Harry Potter Tour at Warner Bros. Studios, near Watford (London) in our half term break, and she made me dress like Imelda Staunton’s character, Professor Umbridge.?
She pointed out that my pimped up LK. Bennett jacket gave her “Umbridge vibes”.?I embraced it.
Are you going to embrace yours??If so we’d love to see a photo of you like the ones below. They are brilliant. Thank you.
Since writing my first “Doppelg?nger” post last year, I’ve heard stories of Michael Cane (Thanks David), Myra Syal (LOL Nishi) and Venus Williams (Trills, you are a dead ringer)…
And what about these…

I do love your Friday emails. Always great tips and put a smile on my face.?
I am sending you my Mother Theresa look (according to my colleagues) . I am taking it as a great compliment and not even thinking about the wrinkles”
Thank you Sia, I love her too.

“Dear Esther,
People say that I look a lot like the great Simon Russell Beale, but as this mock-up of me next to the picture of him on the publicity photo for Richard II clearly shows, we look nothing like each other...”
Ha ha Anthony it’s like a mirror!
Claire…?
“My?doppelg?nger?in the 90's was Celine Dion - people would come up to me and tell me that I looked like Celine ALL the time!! It happened so many times.....LOL
What do you think?! It's the big hair isn't it?!!????xxx”?
Oh yes, the big hair and pouty pout does it. Gorgeous!?
My own Grandma Hilda R.I.P…
Tip – Use vintage pics of old relatives – I bet you have a treasure trove of inspirational stories for presentations, books and posts! Look at this corker of my grandma.
