Are you in the Light?

Are you in the Light?

For today's coaching message, I wanted to remind you of the importance of being connected, vulnerable, growth minded,  and in surrounding yourself with others who can 'lift you up', and engaging in the loop of 'giving and receiving' knowledge and support.  One of my favorite quotes is "iron sharpens iron", which clearly illustrates the idea of being open to 'positive inputs'. It's like being in the light, as opposed to being in darkness.

I don't know about you, but I am guilty at times of isolating myself, and thinking that I have all the answers. I fall into a closed mindset of 'I've heard this all before' or 'this has no meaning to me right now.' That's a dangerous, dark place to be though. Being arrogant, close minded, and unwilling to learn doesn't propel me forward, it sets me back.  The truth is, If I don't "get something" out of every meeting or conversation, it's my fault for not being open, curious and receptive. Certainly new information is great to hear, but 'recycled' information is just as important, as it brings to the forefront an idea or a concept I may have forgotten, or put on the back burner.

Receiving is one thing, but of even more importance, both to others and to yourself, is what you give. When you're part of a group and you contribute your experience, strength,  knowledge and wisdom, it not only helps others... it also helps you. How? Because when you teach or share something, it further imprints that knowledge and forces you to better understand it. You benefit, and so does everyone else. It's a win/win to give!

So, where are you right now in terms of being connected to others who lift you up? Are you open, vulnerable, growth minded and willing to both give and receive? Or, are you isolating, and being close minded? In other words, Are you in the dark, or are you in the light?

Let's move to the light!
