Here is one point that stood out:

Finally, rally your people around a common goal or vision. One of the most important things you can do to make sure you’ve aligned your people around a common objective is to communicate your intent—early, often and simply, say Chip and Dan Heath, co-authors of the best-selling book Switch.

THEY SAY THAT WHAT LOOKS LIKE RESISTANCE FROM YOUR TEAM IS OFTEN JUST A LACK OF CLARITY.

You may be so invested in your vision and agenda that you don’t realize that it’s not as clear to others as it is to you.

Here are other points I share about leadership from my program, Communication strategies for becoming an inspiring leader.

• A manager does things right. A leader does the right things.
• A good leader says what she thinks and feels what she says.
• Without a vision you can’t call yourself a leader.
• Most leaders under communicate their vision by a factor of ten. (John Kotter)
• Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument and debate and doubt and offer a solution everybody can understand. (Colin Powell)
• Repetition is not for dimwits. What is effective in persuasion is to say fewer things and say them more often.
