So, here’s the tea. ?? I got some, let’s say, “interesting” feedback while promoting my workshop, “How to Move Your Culture from Good to Great: Three Immediate Actions You Must Take.” And by interesting, I mean disconcerting.
Storytime ??: The CEO of a 65-person company confidently told me his culture is already great. Yet, when I took a quick peek at Glassdoor, the ratings were a solid... 2.8. ?? And oh, only about 50% of his employees think he's doing a bang-up job. Ouch. ??
Another gem? The CHRO of a 1200-person company gave me the same spiel. Glassdoor rating? A slightly less embarrassing 3.2, with a CEO approval of 61%. ??
Let’s be real for a sec. It takes a hefty dose of self-awareness (and maybe a little humility) for leaders to recognize that their culture might need some TLC, whether it's circling the drain or just not hitting the high notes. ??
Data Time ??:
·?????? According to a study by the Society for Human Resource Management, (yeah, I know, it pains me using data from SHRM) companies with highly rated cultures have 35% higher employee satisfaction and 30% better performance than those with lower ratings. (Check it out here).

Unpacking the Truth: ??
First off, culture isn’t some set-it-and-forget-it situation. It’s an ongoing, evolving beast that needs constant attention. Why? Because people come and go, market conditions change, and let's not forget those external shocks like, oh, I don’t know, a global pandemic or a financial crisis. ??
