Are You a Job Seeker With 15+ Years of Experience Under Your Belt?

Are You a Job Seeker With 15+ Years of Experience Under Your Belt?

For many, especially those with a few decades of professional experience and new to the job search market, the current job search trends look very challenging.

Almost all of the senior professionals' and executives' resumes I read are outdated - usually written more than 10 years ago, never updated, or updated recently using the same old resume writing style or using gen AI without a personal stamp.

To be even harder, after the pandemic, we see how job search practices and the market are changing and evolving constantly, causing even experienced and tech-savvy job seekers to struggle, let alone those who are not up to date with the current developments.

What senior job seekers usually have in common:

?? They held several jobs throughout their career, working their way up within 1 or 2 companies (some of them worked at the same company for 20 years).

?? Many didn't have to interview at all before; they got jobs and promotions through their network alone.

?? The last time they looked for a new job or updated their resumes was years ago.

?? They now experience the wave of layoffs or changes in their positions and face a world they do not know.

?? They are all surprised at how unprepared they are for the current job market and job search in general.

If you are one of them, it's probably necessary to hone your job search and interviewing skills, as well as your resume.

Quick resume fixes if you need to get back to the job market ASAP:

? Remove the Objective section, write Summary instead.

? Include your mobile phone, e-mail, and LinkedIn profile in your contact details; remove your home address, date of birth, marital status, and other too personal information.

? Remove the "references available upon request" part.

? Remove your internships, volunteering and training if these are older than 10 years and irrelevant to your current job target.

If the last time you updated your resume were 10 years ago, it would be best to rewrite it.

Revise your job search approach and the activities you plan to do, too.

?? PRO TIP:

If you are considering professional support in your job search right now, look for consultants and coaches with an HR background – those who know the field and can truly help. This is especially important if writing, social media or technology are not your things.

At the moment, at your level, the people you are competing with for your desired position come from many different paths, and the competition is fierce.

Your RESUME and your LINKEDIN PROFILE really need to stand out and impress.
