You are Invited to Be Part of TEDxCSTU
For many years, people have told me, "Elizabeth, you should get on TED Talks! You have so many great, original ideas that could benefit more people." My response was always, "How?" My network told me you would need to be invited or recommended by someone who has already spoken at TEDx or knows the organizers.
I’ve often heard similar suggestions about teaching at Stanford, as many felt my points and critical thinking could benefit others. One such recommendation in 2011 led to a connection with the dean, allowing me to teach there for six years and author my first book: "Myths of the Promotion, 10 Steps to a Successful Career," published on Amazon in 2012 as the textbook for my one-credit class WSP229 at Stanford.
I was not that lucky with TEDx. I never spent time networking to get on TED Talks because I had other aspirations. However, I discovered that TEDx has grown tremendously, with over 40 million subscribers on its YouTube channel and reaching billions of knowledgeable individuals through other channels who could hear my voice. Because it was by invitation early on, camera-shy Asians did not appear in TED often. The voices of Asians are hardly heard through this significant channel.
As a rule breaker, I asked California Science and Technology University (www.CSTU.edu) to apply for a license to host a TEDx event. Given my role as the co-founder and chairman of the university, the team successfully obtained the license. If there are more fluent languages than English, speakers can choose the languages to deliver their message most effectively.
Our first event is scheduled for July 28 at our Silicon Valley campus, and I am among the 25 speakers. Please come to the event to find out what I will talk about. Here is the in-person ticket you can buy:
The great news is that we opened up the application process to everyone, rather than relying solely on recommendations. This inclusive approach attracted a diverse audience, all with great ideas, especially on how to thrive in the AI age, leverage AI, and grow their careers. Our youngest speaker is a high school student who will share her unique challenges and growth experiences.

TEDxCSTU is one of many steps to help minorities change the narrative and get their voices heard through mainstream media such as TED and TEDx. Many are from my Stanford network, including GSB students and alumni. We had so many applicants that we plan to organize another event in December this year. If you would like to speak, here is the link to apply.
You can also become a sponsor. The team will help you enhance your logo and business brand on the TEDx platform. Please contact my team, Leni Jin or Tammy Yu , if your business wants to become a sponsor.
You can buy tickets here if you’re interested in interacting with some of our speakers and volunteers and experiencing our show live.
Join us at TEDxCSTU and be part of a platform where your voice can be heard and your ideas can inspire others!

4 个月Elizabeth Xu, Ph.D. Thank you for sending this. I would love to be a part of this initiative and put forth my concepts on the IoSxT, The Internet of Surgical Things, using Neurotechnology and BCI for Human Factors training to reduce the global burden of preventable surgical harm. It highlights training for critical moments using data science and harnesses the immersive and interactive aspects which can be measured and trained objectively to augment biobehavioral and cognitive regulation during elite technical performance.
