Are you ignoring the obvious in your business?

Are you ignoring the obvious in your business?

Sometimes your best idea is right in front of you…you just can’t see it.

The thing you'll excel at, the thing that'll bring out the best in you and lead you to success?

Yeah, it's staring you dead in the face!

I know many people - myself included - don't explore the obvious routes in business. Maybe it feels too easy?! Maybe you're scared of something - messing up or because someone told you not to go down that road for some reason. Maybe you think there’s something else you SHOULD be doing instead. Even though you may be making some level of progress, your thoughts and fears could be the thing that’s getting in your way from real success!?

I know I have resisted exploring certain avenues in my business because I’ve told myself there are already enough coaches in a certain space. I’ve feared ruffling feathers and not wanted to upset anyone. The worry creeps in – “So and so does that so I can’t…what if they think I'm copying them?! What if they think I’m trying to steal their business?! I’ll never be as good as them anyway!”

Well, just because there are multiple loaves of bread in the supermarket already, doesn't mean new ones can’t sell, right? Now I’m not advocating copying someone else’s programme, ripping off another business owner's ideas or stealing their content. That's a surefire way to damage your reputation and integrity. Instead, I'm talking about not pushing ideas to the side because you fear what others may think or worry you won’t be as good as others. Choosing a particular niche or ideal client, switching your approach, or refining how you deliver your services is all up for grabs, no matter what already exists in the market!

There are so many different types of bread out there. Each loaf will appeal to different tastes, preferences, and budgets. What might be the right choice for me, won’t appeal to you. And that’s the beauty of business - there's room for everyone to do their thing and thrive. Just think of the different businesses that arrive in Dragon’s Den! Even if they have a similar niche or offering to others, they always have something that makes them unique. Whether it’s their story, their approach or ethos behind the business or their personality. Remember clients aren't just buying a service from you; they're investing in you.

We shouldn’t avoid doing something just in case we think someone else won’t like it (chances are they won’t even care or notice - and if they do, that's a ‘them’ thing!). Can you imagine how many great ideas or business ventures have been scrapped and never brought to life out of being polite?

For a while now, I’ve been avoiding something staring at me in my face for ALL the above reasons. The idea of ‘doing something similar’ has definitely been stopping me from showing up how I want to in my business (without even realising it!). That’s about to change though so keep your eyes peeled!

What are you resisting? What brilliant idea could be staring you in the face?

Here are some questions to consider:

  • What ideas have you brushed aside because they seemed too easy or obvious?
  • Are your fears of failure overshadowing your potential for success?
  • Have you allowed past experiences or external opinions to dictate your choices?
  • How can you shift your perspective to see competition as an opportunity rather than a threat?
  • What unique qualities or offerings do you bring to the table that set you apart from others in your field?

And if you want to explore your ideas further and make sure your business can shine, book a call here – I’d love to help you.
