Most of us are Human Doings...
I have been guilty of this for most of my life, and I still am because our society loves productivity.
Every software program is designed to optimize and help you make money, and it is supposed to make your life better.
Are you Actually Happy With Your Life?
How often are you stopping to Think About Your Legacy, or are you just mindlessly scrolling social media?
Even LinkedIn, in excess, causes you to think you are not Enough.
Why are so many people so successful?
They must love their careers so much.
Let's take this intentional moment to reflect on...
The kind of person you become in life ultimately depends on your values, aspirations, and how you want to impact the world around you. Here are some qualities that many people strive for:
- Authenticity: Being true to yourself and your beliefs is essential for personal fulfillment and meaningful connections with others. Are you honest with yourself and others? Do you present only the positive things in life and never speak about the hardships? What's truly going on behind the facade of social media? I've been guilty of false positivity with a decent portion of my posts. When was the last time you were honest and upfront about the struggles in your life? Not to get more likes but just to be able to show the different sides of you.
- Compassion: Showing kindness and empathy towards others fosters positive relationships and contributes to a more harmonious society. Compassion is what makes life so rich. We all go through so many unique experiences. The human condition is relatable no matter what country you are from.
- Resilience: Life is full of challenges, and developing resilience helps you bounce back from setbacks and grow stronger in the face of adversity. Growing up poor and living off of government assistance, having been through my parent's divorce, being bullied, and dealing with racism/microaggressions have made me a better human being. During the #100MillionLivesMovement, going up to 1000+ strangers and asking them about what truly matters really makes you think, why are we on the hamster wheel? Do I actually enjoy being in banking? Be honest with yourself. The biggest con a conman does is on himself as my mentor would say to me.
- Integrity: Upholding moral and ethical principles builds trust and respect from others and leads to a sense of personal integrity and self-worth. This is the probably the hardest way of being because we are all so hard on ourselves and we are typically our own worst critic.
- Curiosity: Embracing curiosity fuels continuous learning and personal growth, leading to new experiences and opportunities for self-discovery. Curiosity is the spice of life that leads you to travel to Fiji, take on the certification you never thought you would pay $16,500 for, to leave a world-class organization to start a lesser-known company. Curiosity is what will have you have stories to tell your grandkids one day.
- Generosity: Sharing your time, resources, and talents with others not only benefits those around you but also brings a sense of fulfillment and purpose. When we are 100 years old. It's these memories that we will cherish. Less about those fat commissions that allowed us to dine at Michelin Star Restaurants and more about the lives we've impacted and living a life of giving back to the communities that have given to us at one point.
- Courage: Having the courage to pursue your dreams, speak up for what you believe in, and take risks can lead to personal growth and meaningful achievements. This is easier said than done. Courage could be writing a book, publishing that podcast episode, or reaching out to someone who might not have the same romantic feelings as you, but at least you know you tried. Not having regrets of what life could have been....
- Gratitude: Cultivating gratitude for the blessings in your life fosters a positive mindset and helps you appreciate the present moment. It's the most powerful practice that gives a grocery store worker more power than a billionaire who is still not happy and is thriving for another billion even though he's been through 5 divorces.
- Adaptability: Being open to change and willing to adapt to new circumstances enables you to navigate life's twists and turns more effectively. Times will change, and that's just life. The more we hold onto the past and we are stuck in our ways. The more it seems overwhelming, the more things are so different. That's why there are a decent amount of grumpy people out there. Embrace and own it or it will own you.
- Balance: Striving for balance in all aspects of your life—work, relationships, health, and personal growth—promotes overall well-being and happiness. At the end of the day, If one area of life takes over. You will be burned out, and it's not sustainable. We all go through seasons. Embrace the seasons but don't overdo it at the expense of your marriage or else it will lead to medical issues...
Ultimately, the kind of person you become is a reflection of your choices, actions, and mindset.
It's about continuously striving to be the best version of yourself while staying true to your values and making a positive impact on the world around you.
